196. "Krishna Venta: The Christ of Box Canyon" by Rebecca Bradley

http://www.skepticink.com/lateraltruth/2014/11/21/krishna-venta-the-christ-of-box-canyon/ is an interesting article about Krishna Venta, written by an author with an enjoyable and highly readably style.

Three points about this article, though:

1.  In my research I've found nothing to support the assertion that "sexuality was strictly controlled except where it involved Krishna Venta, who was entitled to a kind of droit du messiah when it came to the women."

2.  The author claims that Krishna Venta was "mentored by Father Divine, who claimed to be God."  Aside from the Fountain being on Father Divine's mailing list, I've found nothing to support this.

3.  I appreciate the wording of the sentence "they also told stories of Krishna performing amateur (fatal) surgery" (i.e., I appreciate the fact that the author acknowledges that this was just an allegation made by the bombers in the days prior to their deaths and not anything substantiated).

And thanks to the author of this essay for acknowledging this blog as a source.

This person's blog entry is a retread of the items one already finds on the web regarding Krishna Venta.  The only real items of interest in it, at least in my opinion are:

 

"They [Fountain members] used to show up in my little town every so often, elegant in white robes, and somewhat inelegant in the aroma that wafted from beneath those robes. They'd go door to door, asking for donations. My mother, soft-hearted and kindly woman that she was, always gave them a dollar or two, and then cautioned us children not to mention that to our father, who was less soft-hearted and tended to be unkind to crazy people coming to the door...I was all of 13 years old when that [the December 1958 explosion] happened, and it was the talk of the town for some time. We were not supposed to know about the philandery, of course, being so young, but we did."

For years now, I've been friends with a person who belonged to Krishna Venta's Fountain of the World for twenty years.  Their response to the above was, "What aroma came from under our robes? We showered normally all the time.  It's so amazing what people can say, isn't it?"

I'm told that the person in the above photo is Brother Charles...

...who was later known at the Fountain as Priest Charles.

184. Sacramento, California, October 15, 1959

This photo was taken on October 15, 1959, ten months after Krishna Venta's death, as Fountain members protested Caryl Chessman's death sentence.

At left, holding the pamphlets, is Brother Charles.  Next to him, with the Fountain of the World sign, is Bishop Asaiah.  And at far right, holding the "Crusade for World Peace" sign, is Brother Wilbur Yates.  The remaining four men are currently unidentified.
